Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, born on March 26, 1991 also known professionally by the name Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and is the first female artist to sign with J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. Dreamville Records released her debut EP, Pho, in October 2016 where she started to gain recognition. Shea Butter Baby, her debut album, was released on the 7th of May, 2019. Ari Lennox started uploading music online in the year 2012, when she released her debut mixtape Five Finger Discount, and her debut EP Ariography in the year 2013. The year 2014 saw her release new music through the internet including Bound. The song was included in Omen's Elephant Eyes as well as in Sweat It Out on July 21, 2015. J. Cole was interested by her talent and was looking to work with Rihanna. It was announced on December 8, she signed with Dreamville Records. She made an appearance on the album collaboratively titled Revenge of the Dreamers II in the track Backseat featuring Cozz. The singer released Pho, her debut EP, on Oct 21 the 21st of October, 2016. Ari Lennox performed the song Change by J. Cole as well as opening the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017. She was joined by EarthGang. She also appeared in 2018 on two tracks with her labelmates EarthGang in the video for Nothing but the Best. And Bas On Icarus. The 16th of July, 2018, Ari Lennox released the first single Whipped Cream from her debut album Shea Butter Baby with an accompanying music video that was released on the 5th of September. Then, in November, she released two singles, forty Shades of Choke & Grampa. Two more singles were released on the 11th of November Pedigree and No One. Shea Butter Baby is a track that she recorded together with Cole on the soundtrack to Creed II on the 16th of November. It then came out as a standalone single in February of 2019 to coincide with the release of her debut album. In February of 2019 the video music for the song was released. The song has received more than three million YouTube views in just one week. The singer was a supporting artist for 6LACK during the From East Atlanta With Love Tour during December 2018.
